The important week has finally arrived!

This Friday, the documentary about this project airs on BBC One, in selected regions.

The BBC have been following our A Midsummer Night’s Dream journey the whole way. Here’s why…

Alongside the cast of professionals in the show, actors from local amateur companies have played (and are playing!) the parts of the Mechanicals, including the infamous role of Bottom.

In nine 30-minute regional documentaries called ‘The Best Bottoms in the Land‘ the BBC have captured our project, from auditions to the opening night of each region’s local performance.

The BBC statement released today said: “Juggling real life with the pressures of appearing in a professional production has certainly been a challenge for the amateur actors. There have been sore throats, bruised egos, missed cues and even broken bones along the way – but, of course, the show must go on. BBC cameras have been on hand to capture the emotions over the past year as the tour has travelled the length of the country giving once-in-a-lifetime opportunities to amateur actors.”

The Best Bottoms In The Land will air on Friday 20 May, 7.30pm, BBC One English Regions and BBC One HD.

The full list of which documentary will air in which region, is over on the BBC One website.
